It is quite normal, and actually fully expected, for Simon and I to come away from a wedding buzzing, and totally exhausted. There’s an awful lot going on and a lot of people creating endless moments to capture. So it was a real treat to be asked to be part of Natasha and Gareth’s quieter, private ceremony, with just a handful of their closest family and friends.
Ocean Kave, located on the striking North Devon coast, proved to be the perfect setting on what turned out to be a gloriously hot and sunny day.
Having so few people there meant that it was palpable how hugely loved up these two are, and it was a joy to be there for a wedding that was so intense, intimate and emotional, from start to finish. Natasha and Gareth had chosen to celebrate with an enormous evening party another time; this really was a day for focussing on togetherness, and they were keen to have that represented in the photographs. What a dream for wedding photographers! We felt so massively lucky to have had the gift of time to fully maximise and enjoy the stunning location and incredible light, with such a beautiful couple.
Perhaps my happiest memory is when Gareth suggested that the four of us just sit together, in the grass to watch as the sun finally dropped in to the sea, leaving us all feeling wonderfully blissed out, and Simon and I feeling like we had been a part of something really very special.
