As Devon wedding photographers, we regularly find ourselves working in some of the South West’s most unique wedding venues, and Rachael and Graham’s two ceremony, festival vibe celebration at Middle Coombe Farm was no exception. Middle Coombe Farm is an eco wedding venue set in the heart of rural Devon, so when we arrived to find guests milling about in their tents on the enormous lawn in the stunning, wooded, countryside setting, we knew we were in for a fun, laid back day!
Rachael and Graham started the day with a speedy civil ceremony in the Cider Press Barn, which was filled to the brim with beautiful sweetpeas, before leading everybody on a gorgeous 20 minute walk through the woods to a fairytale like glade under a huge oak tree (the oldest in the forest), complete with a swing made for two. Here, a close family friend led the stunningly ethereal ceremony where the bride and groom read each other beautiful, highly emotional vows before their friends and family came forward to seal the proceedings by tying their wrists together with colourful ribbons during their handfasting.
Following champagne and canapés in the woods, we all made our way back to the lawns for speeches in the sun before a ‘Great Wedding Bake Off’ contest was held in the dining marquee. I’m not sure I’ve seen two people consume so much cake in the space of ten minutes, but you see, it was all in the name of ‘judging’. Mmm-hmm…!
Of course, it was only natural that a huge tug of war followed the wedding breakfast, and that Rachael and Graham kicked the party off with a brilliant charleston routine! What a treat of a day! Non-stop fun, hugely personal and emotional, a wonderful couple so deeply in love and the perfect outdoorsy venue.
