Somerset Wedding Photography – Katie and Chris at Orchardleigh

The walled gardens at Orchardleigh are perfect for luxuriating in, on a hot Summer’s day, which is perfectly lucky, because a hot Summer’s day is exactly what Katie and Chris got for their pretty, carefree wedding in the Somerset countryside.

We started our day off in the usual way – one of us with the girls in an elegant hotel room, for a morning of excitable preparations, and one of us in the pub with the boys, for an excitable pint in the sunshine, before all making our way to the quintessential St James’s Church in Shaftesbury, Dorset, where the overjoyed bride and groom had chosen to exchange their vows.

The new Mr and Mrs emerged from the church, blinking into the hot Summer sunshine, where an impressive shower of confetti was quite literally thrown at them, before heading off to Orchardleigh where the sun blazed, the flowers bloomed and the gorgeous decking area invited happy summer lazing (hold that thought, writing this, and looking through their photographs, is making me want a Pimm’s. I’ll be back in a minute…).

Once the sun had been thoroughly soaked up, the guests headed into the beautifully light and spacious Orangery, to enjoy the equally touching and funny speeches and a veritable feast, before being called back outside by the golden evening sunshine. While the guests enjoyed drinks and games on the lawns, we snuck off for a little while with Katie and Chris to create some rather lovely portraits.

As the sun set, the music started so it was time to take it back indoors, and for Katie and Chris to take to the floor for their first dance as newlyweds, and lead their guests into a night of fun on the dance floor.
