Dan and Katie’s Rocking Party! Sorry, I mean Wedding Day…!
Before you hear what I have to say about the day, here’s Dan’s reaction to receiving their photographs:
“Wow, where to begin? Thank you and Simon so so much! Katie and I could not be happier with the photographs – they are perfect! You guys have delivered absolutely everything we were hoping for and much much more. You have captured the very essence of our big day and given us the opportunity to see the celebration through the eyes of our guests – they are truly special. As I have said before, from the very first contact, through the briefing process and the day itself you and Simon have been an absolute joy to work with and we really can’t imagine having had anybody else capture and document our wedding – thank you! [after asking if they could share them with everybody…] Again, thank you so much Pip, you guys have made a very happy couple even happier!”
When we first met Dan and Katie to chat through the photography for their wedding day, the chosen meeting point was a lovely rural pub. With a good ale in hand and the sun on our backs, we laughed and chatted for ages, about most things other than wedding photography! So when we met with them again on the morning of their wedding, at the fabulous Ash Barton Estate, it certainly didn’t feel like arriving at work. Camp Bride was fizzing with excitement, sparkles and a touch of nerves, while Team Groom transformed themselves into dapper country gents, ready for hay bale seating and sausage and spud feasting.
There’s a bit that happens in the morning, and I love it! It’s the moment when somebody decides that it’s time to get the dress on. And the giggly fizzing turns into heart thumping emotion and nerves. This is it, the moment’s finally here! All the prep and planning was for this. As the photographer, watching from outside, you can actually feel the atmosphere change. You start instinctively moving slower and holding your breath so as not to disturb the moment. Brides breathe out, parents breathe in. Everybody tries not to cry (many don’t manage!). It’s a moment us wedding photographers get all gooey about! Katie’s Dad almost managed to hold it all in, only being given away with the wiping away of a single tear. Such a fleeting moment caught on camera, to be remembered for years to come.
Everybody ready, it was Dan’s turn to get emotional as the glowing Katie walked down the aisle to join him at their sunny outdoor ceremony, before the celebrations burst into life with so much confetti, we were finding it for days! Following drinks in the sun in the beautiful courtyards and gardens, a ceiling decked with thousands of twinkle lights provided the backdrop for the fancy dress themed speeches. Bursting at the seams with bellies aching from laughter and sausages, everybody dug deep to find a burst of energy for the treat that was coming…
I mean, if there’s one way to ensure the dance floor is full and pumping all night, getting the Father of the Bride and his AMAZING band, is surely it?! Everybody went NUTS and it was so, so hard to tear ourselves away at the end of the night! Dan and Katie, and Katie’s Dad, you guys flippin rock!
