Emma and Robin’s Springtime Wedding at The Great Barn in Devon.

Well hello sunshine! We’ve missed you!

Springtime weddings often conjur up images of the first glimpses of warmer, sunnier days, with newly blooming flowers and a return to the outdoors. Shaking off the cosiness of Winter, Emma and Robin’s wedding day at The Great Barn, nestled deep in the rolling Devon hills, was just that.

Having been a particularly snowy Winter this year, it was a relief to arrive with Emma with the promise of sunshine. The fire was glowing in her parents’ beautiful home. One of the most laid back wedding prep mornings I’d ever been involved with, played out before me. Emma, the gorgeous bride, along with her bridesmaids and parents, even took the time to sit and eat brunch together! Perhaps it was the confidence in the newly emerging sunshine that had everybody feeling light and airy. The calm, chilled out happiness continued right through Emma getting into her dress, right up to her arriving at the church. And can we just take a minute to mention the dress? Oh. My. Days. WHAT a dress!

Robin eagerly awaited Emma’s arrival, looking more and more emotional every second. Emma walked in the door and that emotion flowed freely and sent a ripple of tears through the congregation.

At long last!

Emma and Robin have been together since their university days. The ‘I wills’ were echoed with murmurs of ‘At last!’and ‘About time!’. This quickly switched from emotional anticipation to a whoopin’ and a hollerin’! The triumphant newlyweds burst out of the church. They led the party down the hill, with excitable fist bumps, to the resplendent Great Barn to start the celebrations. What better way to kick the party off than with an arrival confetti arch, leading everybody straight to the drinks tables in the blooming walled garden?

A glorious afternoon was followed by a sumptuous feast. Dartmoor Kitchen prepared, and served in the main barn with its cleverly considered, atmospheric lighting. The speeches made it clear that the night was going to be just a little bit epic. The band set up. Emma and Robin took the opportunity to go for a stroll across the Devon hillside in the setting sun. The bride and groom paused for a moment to look back at The Great Barn, faces glowing with happiness,  and breathe in the awesomeness of their day. Of course, we snuck along with our kit, too, and the results are pretty marvellous.

The Great Barn

The Great Barn is a space that’s perfect for a huge party! Just as well, given the party loving crowd Emma and Robin had brought to Devon with them! From start to finish, Emma and Robin’s day was filled with happiness, fun, and tonnes and tonnes of love, and was an honour to capture.
