Our adventure with Rosie and Charlie started in March ’19 and their plans for a ’20 wedding went, of course, in a direction that none of us could have predicted. When their wedding day finally came around we had a fantastic time with the lovely Rosie and Charlie and relished the sense of joy that came from just being there with everyone, in the sunshine, on the gorgeous North Devon coast.
Rosie and Charlie tell their story below…
How did you meet?
We met at university, specifically on the sticky dancefloor of Klute, the ‘second worst nightclub in Europe’. The first time I asked Rosie out she had a boyfriend, but I waited and then tried again – after checking she was definitely single this time!
Charlie whisked me away to Madrid and organised for all our friends to join us for engagement celebrations. They surprised me at the Egyptian temple overlooking the city (Templo de Debod) for sunset and sundowners – and then onwards to my favourite restaurant, roof top bar and night club.
What initially attracted you to Sandy Cove?
The view. The Venue at Sandy Cove is set on a cliff overlooking the sea and coastline. We visited the venue on a cold foggy November day and even then, we were blown away. It also doesn’t hurt it has access to one of the best hidden beaches in the UK – perfect for a beach party the day after.
How was the build up to your wedding day?
Interesting… Our original wedding day was in the midst of Covid. Three wedding dates later we finally made it down the aisle. We were very lucky that we were able to have everyone we wanted at the wedding for attempt number three. It all worked out in the end, but we had to be very flexible, and we were planning and replanning the wedding to meet requirements up until the day before. Luckily our suppliers and friends were amazing throughout!
Did you, or family/ friends, get involved in venue decorations, details etc?
The view is so stunning that the venue didn’t require much decoration. Sweet Williams florists created a beautiful flower arch for the ceremony and table centre pieces. Sandy Cove also offer decorations for rent such as lanterns which we used and supplemented with our own table decorations.
What did you love about your dress?
I loved the femininity and embroidered lace on my dress supplied by Ava Rose Hamilton (Lesley by Enzonai). I felt like a floral warrior princess. I was in two minds about wearing a full-length veil but am glad I decided to. It made for some stunning pictures and when else will I get to wear one?
What were your favourite stand out moments from your day?
The ceremony was everything I had imaged and more. All our friends and family were together for the first time in nearly two years, it was sunny, everyone was happy. It was the perfect start for our marriage. We also really enjoyed the photoshoot with Pip and Simon, as well as being fun it gave us some time just the two of us to enjoy the moment.

Any advice for Brides to be?
Try to avoid getting too fixated on the ‘perfect’ day. Things will change but often the most memorable moments are the times when things didn’t go to plan!
